Ok I am having the same issue with all Codemasters games. I can run them for hours with out fanaled on. But as soon as I turn on fanaleds it randomly crashes. For instance.... I was just in a race and paused it. Decided to restart race and when I clicked on restart I got the same error as the other guy. Happens with any codemasters game I play. So I reedited the files back to normal until you guys can hopefully find a fix for this.
Thank you and you guys made a great tool for my wheel.
OH and also I am running the steam version of my codemasters games.

I'm afraid this is out our reach. Only the non-patched versions of games seem to run. Once you update the game it makes it unstable. Perhaps if Codemasters would listen and fix their game it will work again...
As far as I know you can't downgrade a Steam game...
Do you have something like a CD-Key for the game, or is it just a game in your Steam library? Otherwise you could just download and install the normal version.
I even tried allowing port "30500" through the firewall, the one you have to change based your readme.
How exactly does the port system work? and what are they referring to by socket?
Thanks for the cool software, hope you can fix it.
UPDATE:
It is definitely a problem with the settings, as i tried playing the game with out Fanaleds started, but with the edited xml in place and i had the same problem.
hope this helps.

Yeah, it's a problem in the game. It simply crashes when the telemetry output is enabled. It does not matter which port you use. The only solution is to downgrade the game to a lower version.
Do not expect Codemasters to fix their game, it has been there for years.
With the release of Dirt3 Complete Edition we seem to be getting some development traction. I have been hounding codemasters via twitter and finally got some acknowledgement https://twitter.com/justbiglee/status/5 ... 1351917571
I did a small writeup about my thoughts on the issue here: http://tmblr.co/ZI30Hu1izbQp0 to try get the ball rolling.
